Former Suva rugby player and Fiji international, Mosese Taga has warned Suva to control the Nadroga backline when the two sides meet in the third challenge of the BSP Farebrother Sullivan Cup this weekend.
While last week’s challengers, Northland threatened the Cup holders Taga believes this weekend, the Stallions will bounce back and make sure the coveted silverware remains in their backyard.
“We cannot judge a team by their last performance - in the Farebrother, it’s a different ball game altogether. Every single week the holders throw a different game at their opponents and Nadroga, knowing their true nature of competitiveness will not be embarrassed a second time,” Taga said.
Taga said this will be Nadroga’s biggest challenge as Suva’s star-studded team will definently be a force to reckon with.
“Suva needs to control every phase of the game, from the lineout, rucks, mauls and most importantly they need to control the Nadroga backline.”
“If they give the Nadroga backline a chance to breathe then they will be punished. Suva needs to make sure they control the game and keep Nadroga from executing any of their plays.”
“Keep possession and take advantage of opportunities, frustrate them and work on their mistakes,” Taga said.
Taga added Suva’s chances were high against Nadroga but the result of Saturday’s much anticipated clash will come down to discipline.
The Suva versus Nadroga match kicks off at 3pm on Saturday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
