Agen to release late arrival Caucau September 07, 2010
Agen rugby club is to release Rupeni Caucaunibuca after the Fijian winger broke his contract by missing seven weeks of pre-season training and the start of the new Top 14 season.
The newly-promoted Top 14 outfit took the decision to pursue 'Caucau' for his "unjustified absence" after a meeting on Monday between the player, club president Alain Tingaud and coaches Christian Lanta and Christophe Deylaud.
The Fijian was initially suspended by the club after he failed to show for the July 12 start of pre-season training. The 30-year-old finally arrived in south-west France looking out of shape.
Since his arrival in France in 2004, Caucaunibuca has endured a series of highs and lows. He was top try-scorer in the Top 14 in 2005 and 2006, but has also suffered a series of injuries and tested positive for cannabis.
