Downtown, Lincoln bow out of NCC finals
November 21, 2009

Nadroga’s Downtown and Tailevu Naitasiri’s Lincoln Sports are the first two teams to bid the 2009 National Club Championship finals goodbye after registering their second consecutive losses in pool matches today.

Downtown with the likes of brothers Archie and Sitiveni Watkins, Thomas Coster, Krishneel Dutt, Luke Rawadamu and Jonas Naceva were outclassed by a star studded Samabula outfit 2-0 in the opening match of Day 2 this morning in Nausori.

While the Raymond Stoddart coached Lincoln Sports from Tailevu Naitasiri was thumped 0-4 by Service of Taveuni who narrowly lost 2-3 to defending champion, Southern Forest Combine of Navua yesterday.

Downtown had lost its opening match 1-2 to 4R Electric of Ba yesterday while Lincoln went down 0-3 to Wailailai Youth.

Meanwhile in another fixture played this morning, 4R Electric overcame a tough Jolly Brothers challenge to win 2-0 and remain in contention for the semifinal tomorrow.

Day 2 results so far: Samabula 2-0 Downtown, 4R Electric 2-0 Jolly Brothers, Service Sports 4-0 Lincoln. Matches yet to be played include: Wailailai vs Southern Forest, 4R Electrical vs Samabula, Jolly Brothers vs Downtown, Sevice vs Wailailai and Southern Forest vs Lincoln Sports.
