Roko replaces Nalaga for Ireland clash November 20, 2009
Dreadlocked Nasoni Roko is set to start for the Flying Fijians and fill in the vacuum at wing left by the departure Napolioni Nalaga.
Nalaga left camp yesterday to join his Clermont club much to the dismay of coach Glen Ella but the former Wallaby is optimistic they can find a good replacement in Roko for their second test against Ireland.
“I am disappointed that Nalaga had to leave, I would really have loved to use him in our last two games. Nonetheless it’s not the end of the world, one thing good about these Fijians is that there are a lot of fast players to put on the wing,” Ella said.
“We have Nasoni Roko who did well against Scotland. I know he is eager to make his start.”
Roko who is also a Fiji 7s rep is looking forward to meet the Irish and play against one of his favourite players, Brian O’Driscoll.
“Brian is one player that I really look up. It is an honour for me to be playing against him.”
“I have been training hard, really giving my all into this tour and I know that that will not go unnoticed.”
The Naitasiri man promised to play his best after being given the opportunity to make his start.
“I only give what I have and that’s my best. I cannot promise that I will score tries, I want to but that really is determined with the number of good balls that comes my way. I will promise however to defend well and be a good supporting player.”
The game against Ireland kicks off at 5:15am on Sunday morning.
