Rugged New Zealand based halfback Kelemedi Bola believes Fiji has a good chance of beating Scotland in their opening Northern hemisphere match on November 14.
The 28-year old who will be leaving with the team tomorrow for the UK says the number of overseas players Fiji has will boost their chances against the Scots.
“We have players in Europe who have either played with members of the Scotland team or against them in the respective club competitions so our knowledge of our opposition is going to be deep,” he said.
“I am excited because I know this team is the best and have really strong chances of winning.”
Bola who hails from Nasegai in Kadavu said another boost for Fiji was the mixture of young and old players in the team.
“We have experience, a lot of experience in the senior players and then we have the younger reps like Josh Matavesi who I know will bring a lot to the team.”
“Its going to be a tough game, away games are always hard for any team but I am confident that we can get good results because our base of European-based players,” he added. Bola will make his debut for Fiji in this tour, a call up he has been waiting for a long time.
“I had tried making the team in the past but then when I didn’t make the World Cup in 2007 I gave up trying. It’s funny because just when I gave up and I finally get called up.”
He said he will dedicate his debut to his wife Taina Mou and their two children, Miliana who is four years-old and Kelemedi junior who is two years old.
“My family has stood behind me with so much encouragement; I know I couldn’t have done this without them.”
