The Junior All Blacks know they have bagged the Pacific Nations Cup but acknowledge that they still need to be on their guard when they take on Tonga today.
JABs captain Tom Donnelly believes his side have yet to play a full 80-minute game.
“We’ve had players playing 20 minutes of rugby and others more than that but we’ve never really maintained the full 80 minutes of play and that’s something that we will be doing when we meet Tonga tomorrow,” he said.
JABs are hoping to maintain their unbeaten record in the tournament and claim victory at the TFL Stadium but they are wary of how tough the Tongans are going to be.
“They’re an aggressive bunch those Tongans so we expect nothing less from them when we meet,” Donnelly said.
“They have nothing to lose and a lot to gain from this game so we’re looking out for their forwards.”
“They’re obviously going to come at us at full throttle. We’re expecting a really physical game come tomorrow,” he added.
JABs coach Ian Foster believes his team will rise to the occasion and do their fans proud.
“These boys always live to the standard we’ve set out for them and impress. I expect nothing less than that tomorrow, its going to be an interesting game that’s all I can say.”
The game kicks off at 3:10pm at the TFL Stadium tomorrow.
