The Fiji Rugby Union announced yesterday the decision to ensure the enforcement of the ELV (Experimental Law Variations) Laws for all upcoming competitions.
Rugby development manager Semi Matalau said from August 1 it was compulsory that all new competitions including the upcoming IRB 2008-09 IRB 7s Series implement the new ELV laws.
“It is compulsory that all new competitions will run using the 13 ELV's. The ongoing Digicel Cup, Farebrother Trophy and normal union weekly games are to continue on existing laws,” Matalau added.
“Referee coaches and most of our premier referees have been trained on the ELV's so unions, clubs and 7s tournament organisers may approach them for clarification. The IRB 7s Circuit for 2008-2009 will be on ELV's so it's vital our players and coaches all understand these new laws.”
