D day looms for Serevi on 7s job September 04, 2008
The Fiji Rugby Union will not meet with Waisale Serevi this week to discuss his contract as the Digicel Fiji 7s coach.
Chief executive Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua confirmed with Fijilive that the meeting with Serevi could be until next week.
“Some of our board members are not available this week,” he said.
“We may have to wait until next week.”
Yesterday afternoon Serevi made his way to Suva from Nadi after landing at the Nadi International Airport at midday.
The meeting is what the FRU hopes will be the official singing of the contract after weeks of delay.
Serevi was appointed last month as the new Fiji 7s coach but did not agree with the terms and conditions of his contract.
He hired a lawyer and was looking at extending his contract to four years than the six months her was offered.
Serevi also is also seeking more money for a part time job and a stronger role in decision making for the team.
FRU has made a stand that if Serevi does not sign and agree to the terms they have put out; they will have no choice but to look elsewhere for a replacement.
