Tavua to break jinx
August 08, 2008

The Tavua rugby team is fired up to end its dismal run in the Digicel Cup competition.

They are at the bottom of the standings heading against Rewa in a battle of tail enders in Round 8 this weekend.

Coach Sakaraia Telawa is adamant of victory when they host the new major union players at Garvey Park on Saturday.

“We’ve selected a series of players to campaign for us this season. We have a new line up to find out how the boys will blend this weekend,” Telawa said.

“We will be able pick out the potential players gauging from our previous outings. We hope to field a strong line-up this weekend.”

Meanwhile, Rewa coach Jonasa Vueti said a win against Tavua would boost their return to top level competition.

“Tavua have some experienced players and they already know what to expect in the competition. I know they’ll be giving us a good game so we’re not underestimating them,” he said.

The Rewa and Tavua will kick off at 3pm.
