Vereivalu to reclaim Naitasiri pride August 07, 2008
Naitasiri coach Eroni Vereivalu will not settle for anything but the top four placing in the Digicel Cup and Lautoka will not get in his way.
The determined coach believes the race for the four semi final spots are still wide open and their chances are still high.
“Those at the top four have a lot of work to do if they want to remain like that,” he said.
“But this year’s competition is so unpredictable. Unlike last year where you could size up which team can be beaten and couldn’t – this year has seen a lot of disappointments.”
Vereivalu wants to win Naitasiri the Digicel Cup in his first year as head coach.
“Naitasiri hasn’t won a competition for some time now – I want to be the one that brings back victory.”
Lautoka, he says is not going to be easy. But with confidence he knows their preparation will not be futile.
“We’ve set a goal for ourselves and with no disrespect whatsoever to Lautoka, they will not stop us now.”
The game is scheduled for the National Stadium at 3pm on Saturday and Vereivalu is expecting the home crowd to rally behind the boys and boost their game.
Currently they sit at fourth spot in the table with 21 points while Lautoka is at sixth place with 16 points.
“We have Vereniki Sauturaga, Jokini Sivo returning with Ratu Peni Nauluvou. We have a lot of proving to do and we want to get back our reputation on that field – the winning Naitasiri team,” Vereivalu said.
