Victorians bet on neighbours to win August 07, 2008
Former Deans trophy champions, Queen Victoria School believe the title will settle again in Tailevu this year – to neighbours, Ratu Kadavulevu School.
The Victorians went down to Suva Grammar School in the quarterfinals last week at the National Stadium (6-3) but have rallied their full support to their Tailevu brothers.
The feature match in this weekend’s semi final at Lautoka’s Churchill Park will be between RKS and Suva Grammar.
QVS have not written off the Lions but believe, RKS have the upper hand when they take to the field on Saturday.
“Grammar does not have a good kicker,” Kini Murimurivalu, Fiji rep and QVS flyhalf said
Murimurivalu headed the kicking reigns for QVS against Suva Grammar.
“Taking penalty kicks are important and should never be written off, take our quarterfinal game for example – it came down to that.”
“They did not do well in tactical kicking, most if not all of their kicks failed to find touch. If Grammar wants a chance of being victorious, they need to work hard at this.”
Murimurivalu added RKS had this area well and fully secured with their nippy fullback, Sakiusa Malai.
“Saki can kick from anywhere, I have played against him, I know just how good he is.”
“That’s where RKS has the upper hand, Grammar have huge bulky forwards compared to their opposition. But if RKS can use Saki to their advantage, which I’m pretty sure they will, than they will win,” Murimurivalu said.
“And they will win the final and the Deans trophy will settle again in Tailevu – maybe not in our cupboard but close by.”
Lelean Memorial School meets Nasinu Secondary School in the other semi final.
