Nadroga maintains lead
July 20, 2008

Nadroga has maintained their lead in the Digicel Cup after round six and look set to restoring pride in the provincial front.

After an undefeated feat the Stallions with an extensive lead by five points (27) ahead of second spot Suva.

However a dent to their campaign in the next round will be the absence of several overseas-based reps that played a pivotal role in their 48-13 win over Tavua yesterday.

Coach Joji Rinakama is looking forward to their double header clash against Tailevu this weekend and a chance at grabbing the Farebrother Sullivan trophy from Inoke Male’s team will not be a chance he wants to miss.

“It is unfortunate that most of the European based reps won’t be here,” he said.

Clermont’s Napolioni Nalaga departs for France this Friday following Jiuta Lutumailagi and Fero Lasagivibau’s departure earlier this week.

“We are really looking forward to the match, its not something we take for granted especially when we have a silverware to fight for,” Rinakama said.

“But I have quite a lot of reshuffling to do this week as I try to muster up a team for the clash.”

He added he wasn’t worried as his residential reps have proved themselves of carrying the districts pride on Saturday afternoon.

Toulouse and newly married Maleli Kunavore has passed up the chance of returning to the domestic front as he looks to spend time with his wife.

Third on the Digicel Cup table is Nadi with 19 points, hotly pursued by Tailevu who are two points behind and tied with Naitasiri.

Navosa lag with 14 points, Lautoka with 13 and Namosi with 11 to their name. Ovalau, Northland, Rewa and Tavua make up the remaining spots with nine, eight, six and one point respectively.
