Tanivula cooks up a storm for Maroons
July 03, 2008

Nadi coach Iliesa Tanivula does not want a satisfying performance when his team meets Lautoka in the fourth round of the Digicel Cup on Friday night.

While some may conform to a ‘satisfying performance’, Tanivula reckons this is not his standard.

“I do not want a satisfying performance,” he said.

“I want the perfect performance from my players, everything that falls below that is not my pattern.”

He agreed against Suva the win had boosted their morale but he demanded improvement after every game and after the third round, his Nadi team had sunk back to what he says was a ‘round one performance,”

“Majority of the game we controlled but two of the Suva tries were too soft. And for a team to go away with a soft try is not something to boast about even if you get to win the game.’’

The western match at Churchill Park will prove to be exciting and challenging for both teams as they fight to better their standing in the competition table (Nadi sits at sixth spot with six points while Lautoka settles at the third last position with four points).

“We cannot worry about Lautoka, we however will have to concentrate on what we can do better,” Tanivula said.

“It’s a matter of lifting our performance for one thing, defence and set piece and take every ball as it comes.”

Tanivula makes only one change to his starting team, Vima Tuidraki who has travelled back to Ireland to join his club is replaced by Isaia Nawaqa.

The game kicks off 7pm after the development sides take to the field at 4pm.
