Rugby super star Rupeni Caucaunibuca is a hard man to catch, even for Fiji rugby coach Ilivasi Tabua.
The Nasau, Navakasiga Villager in Bua is in the rugby wilderness with the national coaching director saying that it was hard to track the former Super-12 and France-based rugger.
“I have never heard anything from him,” Tabua said.
“I hear stories that he wants to play for Fiji but I want to be the first to hear from him.
“If he wants to play then he should come and talk to me. There is no need to talk to others.
“Until he does so, he is not in the Fiji team for the Pacific Nations Cup and also our remaining internationals this year.”
Caucau returned from France late last year to recover from a knee injury after his contract was terminated by Agen Rugby Club.
He missed last year’s Rugby World Cup in France because of suspension for marijuana use.
The rugby speedster, billed as the best rugby winger in the world, shot to rugby stardom after playing for the Tailevu Rugby Union, the Fiji 7s team under former coach, the late Rupeni Ravonu and the Auckland Blues Super 12 team.
He was also instrumental in Fiji’s campaign to the 2003 RWC under coach Mac McCallion.
