Wallaby winger Mitchell out of NZ Test September 09, 2010
Wallabies winger Drew Mitchell has been ruled out of the weekend Test against New Zealand after failing to recover from a hamstring injury, a team official said.
Mitchell suffered the injury during Saturday's 41-39 win over the world champion Springboks in Bloemfontein, Australia's first victory against South Africa on the Highveld in 47 years.
The Wallabies team to play the All Blacks in the final Tri-Nations match of the year will be named on Thursday, with Peter Hynes and Lachie Turner among those who could take Mitchell's place.
Wallaby James O'Connor said the last-gasp win over the Springboks on the weekend had prepared the team for Saturday's Bledisloe Cup encounter.
"We definitely took a lot of confidence out of the game," he told reporters.
"We stuck to the game plan like we wanted to and finishing off that game, getting the win, was big for our confidence."
