Fijian referee Finau Vulivuli will head a three member Oceania Football Confederation referees panel at the 2010 U-17 Women’s World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago which kicks off on Monday after successfully passing her fitness test today.
The Savusavu based school teacher will be assisted by New Zealand’s Jacqui Stephenson and Tonga’s Lata Tuifutuna who also passed the fitness tests earlier today in Trinidad and Tobago.
Fiji FA Referees Director Chandra Segran the news is a positive one. He added that Vulivuli is a step closer from achieving her ultimate goal, which is to officiate at the 2011 FIFA Womens World Cup in Germany.
“Fiji Football is proud of the achievements of Finau Vulivuli. At a young age she has progressed well. We were confident all along that she will pass this fitness test and officiate at the U-17 Womens World Cup" Segran told Fiji FA Media.
“This is yet another stepping stone for her and a step closer of making it to the 2011 Womens World Cup in Germany. I would like to wish her all the best and hope that she continues to progress.
“The U-17 Womens World Cup starts next week and we will be closely keeping an update on her but we are confident she will excel at this event,” Segran said.
Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer Bob Kumar echoed similar sentiment.
“Our referees continue to put Fiji’s name on top. Just recently we had Ravinesh Kumar at the Youth Olympics in Singapore and now Finau has passed the fitness test to officiate at this U-17 event.
“We are proud of her achievements and this comes to show that our development programmes are right on track,” Kumar said.
The U-17 Womens World Cup will be held from 6-26 September.
