BOG champs to celebrate in style
September 03, 2010

By Reginald Chandar

2010 Battle Of the Giants champion Rewa will hold its celebration in Nausori town tomorrow.

The delta town is expected to come alive when the victorious Rewa football team, Lelean U19 rugby team and Digicel Cup winners Naitasiri parade through to thank the community at large for its support.

Rewa soccer boss Pranil Singh says the celebration will be one of its kind and has urged people to come out in full numbers.

“Tomorrow will indeed be a special day for the people of Nausori and the surrounding areas as the three champion teams will march together,” he said.

“It has been a while since we won a tournament title so the celebration should be special and a large one.”

“The program starts with a colorful float procession and march which will commence around 9am from the Manoca round-about and go through to Ratu Cakobau Park.”

“The teams will be hosted at Ratu Cakobau Park by the Nausori Town Council and the special administrator.”

“Rewa Football Association will hold its function in the evening at Vunimono hall to honor the players and officials for their achievement.”

“The function will commence around 7pm and in the private function we will present medals, certificates, gifts and up to $1000 in cash to each of the players.”

“There will heaps of entertainment, food, drinks and a lot of merry making for the players, officials, supporters and well wishers of the team.”

“To the public, I want to urge them to wear red in support of the boys and if they want to purchase jerseys and other Rewa merchandize then they should buy them from our authorized dealers as in that way the funds collected will be driven back to Rewa FA” he added.

Rewa won the INKK Mobile BOG after beating Navua 1-0 in the final through a 41st minute header to Solomon Islands import Abraham Iniga. The Delta Tigers won $11,000 after clinching the title.
