Tanivula names squad for Namataku 7s September 02, 2010
Fiji 7s coach Iliesa Tanivula has named a 14-member squad to the Namataku 7s in Navosa this weekend.
Only three of the 14 players, Nasoni Roko, Watisoni Votu and Josefa Bole are regular members in Tanivula’s Digicel Fiji 7s team.
“I’ve chosen a squad of players that I’m keen to look at with a view to the upcoming IRB 7s Series and among these players I’ve also included a number of ‘old’ hands just to guide them along,” Tanivula said.
While these players will have the first opportunity to make an impression Tanivula expects more players to be drafted into his squad as the sevens season progresses.
“I fully expect to be making changes as more and more players put their hands up for selection and to do that they’ve got to impress me on the field and, as I’ve said before, I’m going to these tournaments looking for new talent,”
The next tournament on Tanivula’s list will be the Newtown 7s to be held at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on September 10-11.
The full 14 member squad is as follows: Forwards: Sisa Vosaki, Malakai Kuribau, Sitiveni Waqa, Watisoni Votu, Penaia Naweilulu, Juita Takubu, Samuela Saqiwa Backs: Luke Navuwai, Josefa Bole, Qio Vucago, Nasoni Roko, Aminisitai Niukula, Miteli Kalou, Eroni Ravaga.
