By Reginald Chandar The Lautoka Football Association is expected to name its new coach on September 6, after making a decision on its nine suspended players.
Seven former coaches and district representatives are eying the top position which has been left vacant after the sacking of Imdad Ali following the team’s dismal semifinal exit from the Fiji FACT.
LFA president Shalendra Prasad said the executives have looked through the application and all other details of the seven coaches and are holding on to their decision.
“We want to hold on to the appointment of our coach as we need to clear the player issues first.”
“We know the importance of having a coach on the bench and will appoint the best candidate to guide the team for the reminder of the National League and upcoming IDC.”
“Currently our secretary Reginald Goundar is looking after the players in training and is coaching the team” added Prasad.
The seven coaches shortlisted include Dennis Singh, Roblyn Autar, Nicholas Rounds, Mike Thoman, Tagi Vonolagi, Anand Sami and Reginald Goundar.
The Blues are expected to get back into action when the National League recommences next week.
What if the players are tired really? And i'm sure they got a good reason why they didn't attend the fitness test. And by the way,the coach shouldn't say those kinda words to their players cos they're are the one's who playing and sweating in the field, giving their best. And i'll say they deserve to be treated fairly.

True that to all those comments above me ... the president is doing more damage to the team than building a successful one. During the ofc lautoka had a very good team and then he suspends the coach at the most crucial of times and next up bog ... and m sure lautoka will not be able to defend this years league. The only thing lautoka has a real chance at winning this year ... so much spent on bringing this players and now they are on the sidelines. Just let these players go as they dont have district pride and passion for the game. It's all about the money ... too much money and nothing to show for it. Just get 100 per cent lautoka players, look after their welfare and deal with all the outsiders that try to bring the team down. All the best to the blues ... peaceout.

Wasn't this one of the reasons why 16 Lautoka players boycotted the fitness test prior to BOG that they wanted to be coachless for BOG ...?

For the sake of soccer in Fiji, why can't we just see Lautoka play soccer, not bazaar soccer. All the excuses and non-performances should not be used to say Lautoka did not win because it had 9 players suspended. Ba and Brazil have won tournaments with second string tournament. So release all such bad boys, stop imports, and get on with the game. And if they cant perform, get rid of the entire management team and someone take charge who knows how to run a soccer team.

What is wrong with Lautoka. Cannot stick to one decision. How many times Ltk executives lift the suspension of this players? Dont Lautoka have any more players that they can replace this 9 suspended players. Come next transfer this players will all ask for release. Then Lautoka will go to its backyard to look for young talented boys who are not given chance to play now. It is not late now.keep this players suspended and get new and young talent on field. Once you lift suspension of this players they will all be gone. Mak up your mind for future. You win some you lose some but need to replace this players.

Shalen Prasad should suspend himself, lol. What is all is BS you up to Shalen? For the past year all you have done is suspend, suspend and funny you do it before a tournament or an important match. You even did it during O League, IDC, Fact and now BOG, what's next? Or you will repeat it over and wont let Lautoka win anything? Come on man, wake up or move aside.

i think the LFA president reacts quite quickly and good at sacking then re-engaging players after tournament. Surely, the team morale spoils and player combination is not there in this environment.
