Australian flyhalf Quade Cooper will appeal against his two-week suspension imposed by a SANZAR judicial hearing, the Australian Rugby Union said on Monday.
The tribunal found Cooper guilty of making a spear tackle on Springbok opposite number Morne Steyn midway through the second half of Australia's 30-13 win last Saturday at Brisbane's Lang Park.
Cooper went to the sin bin for the offence but he was subsequently cited by the match commissioner after the game.
SANZAR said it had received an appeal lodged by the ARU on Cooper’s behalf.
Cooper's ban covers the Wallabies' international with the All Blacks in Melbourne on Saturday as well as the second Bledisloe Cup Test against the Kiwis in Christchurch a week later.
