Baseball enthusiasts for Japan stint July 20, 2010
Four baseball players have been given an opportunity to develop their skills as they prepare for the Pacific Games in New Caledonia in 2011.
Fiji Baseball development officer, Inoke Niubalavu will be accompanied by 18-year old Sanaila Colainima, 19-year old Alton Tamanitoakula and Fiji rep Shameet Kumar.
“This is a big eye opener not only for myself but for the other three boys as well,” Niubalavu said.
“We’re going to learn, experience, practice, feel and think baseball for two long weeks in one of the top baseball countries in the world.”
The four players with their coach Takao Mochida will also act as Fiji ambassadors as they share, exchange, interact and promote Fiji as a tourism destination.
“We will be training with the baseball club of the University of Tsukuba and watch professional baseball games and there are other things planned for this trip,” Niubalavu said.
“This is a great opportunity and one where the younger boys will learn a lot from.”
