Naqeleca shines as Suva outclasses Labasa June 26, 2010
Vanuatu based utility Esava Naqeleca marked his return to Fijian football in style as he guided Suva to an impressive 3-0 victory over Labasa in the National Football League at Subrail Park.
The 21 year old Spirit 08 FC player who was also eyed by Navua and Lautoka opted to feature for his hometown and played his heart out for the Whites in the much anticipated encounter of the round.
Naqeleca scored the lone goal of the first half in the 21st minute of play as the visitors led the Babasiga Lions 1-0 at the break.
Some stern pep talk by coach Epeli Levaci during halftime failed to ignite any spark in the Lions as Suva continued to dominate possession in the second half.
Former Labasa marksman Joseph Nimariau broke the hearts of the local fans in the 53rd minute after neatly beating the Labasa defence and netting the second for Suva.
And Tomasi Tuqalu, the younger brother of Labasa midfielder Pita Bolaitoga sealed the famous win for Suva in injury time.
Former Labasa goalie Emori Ragata played a grand game for Suva under the sticks and made some daring saves in both spells to keep a clean sheet in the match.
Bic/Power Electric Suva have 16 points after the win while Puma Labasa slips from fourth to fifth spot with 18 points.
