Southern teams favored for Muslim IDC title
April 04, 2010

Three southern districts will feature in the semifinals of the 2010 Fiji Muslim Sports Association Inter District Championship in Ba tomorrow.

Rewa, Valelevu and Nasinu impressively won their quarterfinals this evening to send a strong warning to Nadi, the lone qualifier from the west.

The southern teams have been dominating the FMSA Muslim IDC from the first day and many pundits are predicting a southern team to walk away with top honors tomorrow afternoon.

But Nadi should not be ruled out as the side boasts the experience of Sanaila Dakaica, Waisiki Batina, Mohammed Salmin, Afroz Ali and Zulfikar Joy Ali and capable of beating any team.

Rewa sent  tournament favorites Suva out of the tournament after beating them 3-1 in the first quarterfinal while Valelevu managed a hard fought 1-0 win over Cuvu.

Nasinu overpowered Maro 4-0 in the third quarterfinal and Nadi convincingly beat tournament hosts Ba 2-0 in the last quarterfinal.

The first semifinal between Rewa and Valelevu kicks off at 9am while the second semifinal featuring Nadi and Nasinu gets underway at 10.15am.
