The Fiji National Rugby League with their commitment to develop and grow the game in Fiji, have formally appointed three development officers to assist the programs in the school system and participating clubs.
Fiji Bati 2008 World Cup coach Joe Rabele and Sale Tubuna will be working in Suva, while Semesa Cadrakilagi will cover the western region.
The development officers met with FNRL general manager Steve Mclellan over the weekend where he outlined the development philosophy and the expectations of the development programme and the strategy for the delivery of the programme.
Mclellan said he was delighted to have the three on board as they will be invaluable in the leagues quest to assist our schools and the clubs.
He also stressed the rollout of new programs will now be possible with the appointed development officers, such as introduction of Mini and Mod league into the primary schools, age group development squads and the academy which will see 40 elite 17, 18 and 19-year olds invited into a structured 12 month programme.
The three development officers have worked as volunteers previously and their formal appointment is a just reward for their efforts, Mclellan said.
He added he was pleased with the knowledge and expertise the trio brought to the job but more importantly the passion they have for the game.
The development officers signed their contracts on Saturday and started work today.
