Injuries mar Fiji’s hopes of qualifying for the quarterfinals today in day two of the Adelaide 7s.
Fiji lost to Wales 12-17 last night in their opening pool play with a couple of injuries weighing on their day two campaign.
Nasoni Roko’s injury has left team officials concerned but still optimistic the Naitasiri flyer can feature in their remaining two games against Papua New Guinea and Kenya this afternoon.
“He copped a bad knock in the second half of our game against Wales but he isn’t ruled out of the tournament,” Jope Tuivnuavou said.
“Our physio has taken a couple of precautionary methods but Nasoni is still fit to play.”
Fiji needs to beat PNG and Kenya to qualify for the quarters tomorrow.
Tuivanuavou was confident the team could make their way into the final eight despite last night’s performance.
“It’s not the end of the road, we are not discouraged. We still have two more games and that’s our last hope of qualifying,” he said.
Fiji meets Papua New Guinea at 5:20pm today and their last match against Kenya will be at 9:56pm.
