Domoni names Pacific Rugby Cup teams March 13, 2010
Fiji Rugby Union coaching director Samu Domoni Jnr has selected his two teams that will compete in the upcoming IRB Pacific Rugby Cup tournament in May.
This after yesterday's national trials held at the TFL National Stadium where 60 local players underwent a strenous fitness tests during the day and a trial in the evening.
Domoni said he was impressed with the talent that was on show at the trials adding that he is confident that the Fiji Warriors will retain the PRC title this season.
“I was very happy with the trials and we have selected two talented squads who I believe will produce two teams of outstanding quality come the Pacific Rugby Cup,” Domoni said.
Defending PRC champions, Air Pacific Warriors, boast a formidable looking line-up with the services of players such as props Viliame Veikoso and Alefoso Yalayalatabua, hooker Sireli Ledua, lock Leone Nakarawa and openside flanker Jimilai Naikadawa, all of whom toured with the Flying Fijians last November.
Also included in the Warriors line-up are outstanding loose forwards Dale Tonawai and Mosese Volavola while in the backs there is the very talented center John Stewart as well as, quite possibly, Fiji rugby’s next backline superstar in utility Aisake Katonibau.
Neither do the Fiji Barbarians lack for talent with players such as hooker Vereniki Sauturaga and Kelemedi Bola who also toured with the Flying Fijians last November and former Flying Fijian fullback Taniela Rawaqa.
The full squad lists of the two teams are as follows:
Sakeo Latinara; Vereniki Sauturaga; Vesi Rarawa; Api Ratuniyarawa; Iowane Naivalurua; Rupeni Nasiga; Kotobalavu Waqabaca; Adriu Durutalo; Kelemedi Bola; Amani Bosenawai; Josateki Ravueta; Jonetani Ratu; Adriu Delai; Epeli Vuicuvu; Taniela Rawaqa; Ben Makutu; Aseri Buli; Iosefo Bele; Senitiki Tuivuya; Kelepi Ketedromo; Semesa Gonevou; Nikola Matawalu; Sunia Vata; Paula Tiko; Donasio Ratubuli; Lasarusa Tabu; Jo Nabou
