BSP joins Digicel as official 7s partner March 11, 2010
The Bank of the South Pacific (BSP)has joined Digicel as an official sponsors for the Fiji sevens team.
Formerly known as Colonial Bank, BSP announced its official partnership with Digicel at a press conference in Suva on Wednesday.
Bank executive Kevin McCarthy said they were happy to continue their association with Fiji rugby.
He said BSP were excited with the continued association for the development of the sport in Fiji.
"We at BSP recognise Colonial's long and fruitful association with Fiji rugby. This joint partnership (with Digicel) will take our support of rugby to a new level," McCarthy said.
"This also marks the first step in BSP's relationship with rugby and the Fiji Rugby Union."
FRU chief executive Keni Dakuidreketi welcomed the move by BSP saying it would further help the team in its quest to win the current IRB Sevens World Series.
Dakuidreketi said FRU ws focused on developing rugby players.
"FRU's focus remains on finding and developing our best players as well as producing a team that can win the IRB Series," Dakuidreketi said.
"It is my hope that the three way partnership will do just that." he said
