A Badminton Hall is likely to be built in Nadi soon, says Fiji Badminton president Barry Whiteside.
The project still in the pipeline is currently undergoing talks by the respective authorities but Whiteside has welcomed the idea saying it would greatly boost the sport not only in Fiji but in the South Pacific.
“This would be a huge boost for our sport and other indoor sports which need similar facilities if it happens.”
“Unfortunately, while the idea has been mooted many times by different authorities, I am not aware of anything firm. Needless to say, Fiji Badminton would be supportive of such a move and could certainly assist through making available our Development Officers to take the sport to Nadi if the facilities were available.”
It is believed Badminton Oceania will fund the project. Currently Fiji Badminton has been training and using the Yat Sen Hall which is also used for several other sports including basketball and karate.
