Beci ruled out, Lutumailagi steps in
February 08, 2010

Iliesa Tanivula’s new find Waisale Beci has been ruled out of this weekends San Diego 7s after he failed the medical examination.

Beci who injured his shoulder in Fiji’s semi final match against England at the Wellington 7s has been told to rest this weekend.

“It is sad, he was a stand out player at the Wellington 7s,” Tanivula said.

Beci, a policeman by profession made his debut in Wellington and managed to score four tries for Fiji. His speed was a bonus for Fiji who eventually won the Wellington 7s title.

“We cannot control a player getting injured, its sad to see him go because his pace helped us in our games,” Tanivula said.

“Its not the end of the road for him, he rests now and recovers in time for the third leg of the Series in Australia and Hong Kong.”

Beci has been replaced by Joeli Lutumailagi from the Nadroga rugby team.

Meanwhile Fiji is pooled with South Africa, USA and Canada.

Series leaders New Zealand head Pool A with Australia, France and Guyana while Samoa, Kenya, Scotland and Chile are in Pool C.

Pool D has England, defending San Diego 7s champions Argentina, Wales and Japan.
