Lautoka’s Hassan is Footballer of the Year February 07, 2010
Lautoka striker Kamal Hassan was named Fiji Football Association’s Player of the Year during the awards night in Suva.
The 25 year old Fiji Futsal and Beach Soccer captain was picked ahead of Nadi goalie Vereti Dickson and Navua’s Benaminio Mateinaqara for the top award.
“I am totally surprised to win this award but this is special and a motivation to further excel in my football career” said the Keiyasi native from Navosa.
“I want to dedicate this award to my family and friends and to all the officials and players of Lautoka.”
“I took up the challenge to feature for Lautoka last year and am glad I featured well and also got the chance to play in the O League.”
The Fiji Futsal and Beach Soccer captain looks forward to the 2010 season with a lot of promise and optimism.
“Lautoka has started off well and we won the CVC and now we are concentrating on the O League and the National League.”
Hassan who has come up the ranks through the premier division advises all young football enthusiasts to chase their dreams and give their best in training and maintain good discipline.
“I came up the ranks and have been improving in my football because I am a good listener and often maintain my discipline both off and on the field of play” he added.
Hassan who started his career with Tailevu Naitasiri before moving to Rewa and to Lautoka also scooped the Golden Boot award in the 2008 Oceania Futsal Championship in Suva.
