Fiji secondary school sprinter Banuve Tabakaucoro is proud to be nominated alongside top athletes and coaches from around the country for the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee Sports Personality of the Year Award.
The Marist Brothers High School student has been nominated for the top award with sprint queen Makelesi Batimala, middle distance athlete Niko Verekauta, young weightlifter Manueli Tulo and Fiji 7s coach Iliesa Tanivula.
“It’s a big honour for me, this is a big encouragement for me because I am in a list of nominees with Fiji’s best,” Tabakaucoro said.
Tabakaucoro is Fiji’s promising athlete having come through the ranks of the sport. He was first recognised in the primary schools annual athletics meet then later at the Coca-Cola Games.
“If people don’t vote for me its ok, this is a big honour for me already. I respect all those I have been nominated with and have always looked up to them – they are all my role models,” he said.
