Fiji is the team to beat, those were the words of former Fiji 7s coach Josateki Savou after the Emosi Vucago-led side earned their second pool win against Zimbabwe 31-14 at the Dubai 7s.
“The performance has really improved from last season. It’s a joy to watch the team because of the way they play – we can see that Iliesa Tanivula’s development and training programmes is working,” Savou said.
Vucago again drew first blood for Fiji before William Ryder and veteran Watisoni Votu ran in with their contribution to take the scores 17-0 at halftime.
Seremaia Burotu and Nadi rugby player Vima Tuidraki sealed Fiji’s win with a try each in the final half.
Fiji next meets Samoa in their next pool match at 3am Sunday morning.
