A virus outbreak has hit the Lautoka football camp ahead of their important O League Group B fixture against Tafea FC of Vanuatu this Sunday.
Four players are currently infected and have been asked by team doctors to stay out of training.
The four players; Arvindra Naidu, Malakai Waqa, Apisai Smith and Samuela Vula have been suffering from headaches, stomach infection and vomiting and have been advised to take rest, slimming their chances of appearing in blue jumper.
Shop and Save Blues president Shalendra Prasad said the players have been asked by the team management to take extreme caution and should the need arise then they may be sent home.
“There is a virus outbreak in camp and four players are affected which has prompted the officials to do away without them in training.”
“Arvindra Naidu and Samuela Kautoga’s are bed ridden at the moment while Apisai Smith and Malakai Waqa are having very light training.”
“Keni Doidoi also arrived into camp yesterday and is having very light training with the team medics yet to declare him fit for the clash while Valerio Nawatu and Kamal Hassan are looking in shape and may start on Sunday.”
“Despite these minor hiccups the team has been preparing thoroughly for its first international match ever on home soil and will give its best for the people of Lautoka and the nation” Prasad added.
Lautoka leads Group B with six points and a win at home will bolster their chances of featuring in the grand final of the O League against the winner of Group A.
The Lautoka- Tafea FC match kicks off at 3pm on Sunday.
