Walker takes Netball Fiji to court November 06, 2009
Sacked Fiji Netball coach Melissa Walker has no plans to return to New Zealand yet, at least not after her court hearing next month against her employers for non-payment of salary.
The former NPC coach has taken the association to court for not giving her the reason behind her termination.
“I just received a letter from the association secretary Patricia Rokoua saying that I’m no longer employed as coach,” Walker said.
“Without any explanation behind my termination is very much unprofessional and they haven’t paid me since May after the South Africa tour. I will be here for the next few months waiting for the court hearing and until they pay me I will return to New Zealand.”
Walker thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for supporting her through the hard times even though the association has not lived up to expectation.
