Waimanu team to watch at Suva 7s November 05, 2009
Waimanu 7s rugby coach Sailosi Naiteqe is eager to prove his worth as coach in the Suva 7s series at the TFL National Stadium this weekend.
The former national rep who led Waimanu rugby team in some local 7s series says that this tournament would be an opportune time to showcase his knowledge and experience as coach.
“I’ve prepared my team well for this series and I know what they’re capable of,” Naiteqe said.
“I’ve been coaching the Waimanu team for some time and I’ve also developed some very young players. I believe this is a good time to showcase my coaching experience.”
Showing his support to the Fiji Rugby Union for allowing the Suva Rugby Union to put together this international tournament, Naiteqe said that this giant step in reviving the local 7s tournament is for talent identification.
“Our performance during the IRB series has dropped because our players lack exposure. There is not much local 7s tournament and this international 7s provide a good opportunity for national selectors to identification potentials.”
Waimanu will be fielding five teams in which two will be represented in the open and under-19 category while one will be feature in the oldies.
