Naitasiri out to improve their standing
November 04, 2009

Naitasiri Men’s and Mixed Netball association executive Eroni Matakibau has cast an eye over the demanding schedule put together for his side as they hope to improve their performance in the Men’s and Mixed Inter-District Championship on Saturday.

Amongst the number of key objectives he has set out to achieve, developing a new combination, building depth in each position, exposing rookie players to the heat of national battle and working out a new strategy were all high on Matakibau’s agenda this year.

“Our number one objective is to win,” the Kalabu villager from Naitasiri said.

“On that basis, it is fair to say that Naitasiri had a very disappointing campaign last season because we didn’t achieve our objective of qualifying to the semis.”

Although Naitasiri’s record last season makes for a pretty ugly reading, for almost every poor
performance they put in during their pool games, Matakibau is expecting to put together an equally sublime performance against all the big teams.

“The team played some very good game during our warm up matches but it is their ability to be consistent is what matters most. The results will depend on our two weeks preparation.”
Naitasiri have made strong gains in terms of their strength and conditioning and will be out for nothing less than a win.

The Fiji Men’s and Mixed IDC will be held at the National Netball center on Saturday.
