Male excited about first assignment
November 03, 2009

Flying Fijians assistant coach Inoke Male is looking forward to a new learning curve  in the upcoming Northern hemisphere tour on Friday to meet Scotland, Ireland and Romania.

The former international will be out on his first national assignment, one of which he is proud and
eager to see through.

“I have learnt a lot in the last couple of weeks of camp we have had here in Fiji with the local
players,” the Suva Rugby Union head coach said.

“It’s been a big eye opener for me, in terms of training techniques and fitness requirements – Sam Domoni and Glen Ella as well as our fitness trainer, Naca Cawanibuka with all the new things they are bringing in to help prepare this team.”

Male is excited to meet Flying Fijians technical advisor Mike Brewer in the United Kingdom.

“I am so honoured to be brushing shoulders with him on this tour. He is a world class coach and someone I will learn a great deal from because of his experience and qualifications.”

“This is my first exposure into the international scene, its going to be great. To be surrounded by
great coaches is a great honour, I am really excited.”

Male who is one of the most qualified coaches in Fiji with his level three International Rugby Board  coaching certificate has his eyes set on helping Fiji to the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand in 2011.

“This has always been an aim for me, any local coach I guess to make the national team. Like every players dream to make the World Cup team, it’s the ultimatum for any coach to go too.”

The team departs for the UK on Friday. Fiji plays their first Test against Scotland on November 14 at Murrayfield, Edinburgh. They tackle Ireland a week later on November 21 at Royal Dublin Society Ground.

The three- match tour concludes with their last test against Romania on November 28.
