Blanc accused of discrediting Coni October 30, 2009
New Juventus president Jean Claude Blanc has been accused of lacking respect for the Italian Olympic Committe (Coni) over comments he made earlier this week.
The Frenchman, who recently took over from Giovanni Cobolli Gigli, claimed earlier this week that Juventus's next title would be their 30th and would merit a third star on their shirts -- a star is awarded to a team for every 10 titles they win.
Juventus did win 29 scudetto crowns but had their last two revoked for match-fixing in the infamous 'Calciopoli' scandal of 2006.
However, the Juve president defiantly claimed that his club would ignore the sanction imposed by the Italian league and upheld by a Coni tribunal.
But Turin lawyer Andrea Ricca Barberis has launched a case against Blanc with Coni prosecutors, claiming he has publicly denounced justice.
"This relates to statements lacking in foundation and which discredit the prestige, reputation and credibility of the Federal Court of Appeal which revoked the 2005 scudetto and did not assign the 2006 title due to sporting malpractice after the Calciopoli scandal," said Barberis in his case.
