Deacon, Little return for Flying Fijians
October 14, 2009

Flying Fijians coach Sam Domoni has named his 25-member squad for the upcoming Northern Tour next month.

The list includes 17 overseas reps including Deacon Manu and Nicky Little and 14 played in the 2007 World Cup.

The only local-based players in the squad are Nadi’s Vili Veikoso, Nadroga’s Asaeli Boko, Naitasiri’s Nasoni Roko, and Jimilai Nakaidawa, Aisake Tarogi and Waisale Vatuvoka.

Dominiko Waqaniburotu is the lone New Zealand-based who plies his trade for the Waikato Chiefs.

“This is the final squad for the Northern Tour, the selectors have gone through this list thoroughly and believe this is the best Fiji can take,” Domoni said.

The selectors also named a Squad B, a reserve list for the main Flying Fijians squad.

Squad B includes majority of the local-based reps, including Jonetani Ralulu, Iliesa Keresoni, Fatiaki Ravai, William Saukuru, Ropate Ratu, Lepani Ledua, Vereniki Sauturaga, Samu Bola, Viliame Veikoso, Viliame Seuseu, Vuniani Bari and Jiuta Lutumailagi.

“The second squad is for backup in case our overseas reps fall injured in their respective club competition or the local players get hurt. They will also be considered for the Waratahs game coming up,” Domoni said.

The local-based squad is currently in camp at the Peninsula Hotel.

Flying Fijians squad: Graham Dewes, Vili Veikoso, Deacon Manu, Josefa Domolailai, Iferemi Rawaqa, Netani Talei, Akapusi Qera, Asaeli Boko, Mosese Rauluni, Nicky Little, Napolioni Nalaga, Seremaia Bai, Kameli Ratuvou, Nasoni Roko, Norman Ligairi, Aisake Tarogi, Alefoso Yalayalatabua, Dominiko Waqaniburotu, Jimilai Nakaidawa, Vereniki Goneva, Filimoni Delasau, Jone Qovu, Waisea Luveniyali, Waisale Vatuvoka.
