The Australian Football League will launch a series of new initiatives in Fiji on Friday, the biggest being the Oceania Cup Competition from December 10 – 12.
The Oceania Cup will be hosted by Fiji and will see countries like Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, PNG and New Zealand competing for top honours.
AFL also plans to hold development clinics in Fiji.
Fiji’s very own AFL stars, David Rodan and Alipate Carlile who ply their trade with the Port Adelaide Football Club will help launch AFL’s plans on Friday night.
Members of the Fiji AFL Committee along with members of the Western Bulldogs AFL Club will be present at the launch. The Bulldogs will be conducting talent identification clinics around schools in Fiji.
The Bulldogs have already roped in two Suva Grammar School students, Inoke Ratu and Solomoni Loki who are in a one-year scholarship with the club.
The launch will take place on Friday evening at the Suva Holiday Inn.
