Sweet father's day grudge match win
September 06, 2009

Lautoka bagged, perhaps its biggest win against Ba when they thumped the Men in Black 3-0 at Govind Park in their National League fixture at Govind Park this afternoon.

Goals to sublime forward Kamal Hassan and captain courageous Valerio Nawatu in the first spell and one to Jone Vono Jnr in the second half was enough to seal the Blues win.

"It is sweet revenge indeed for us," said Lautoka President Shalendra Prasad.

"We lost to Ba in the final of the Battle of teh Giants at home, and today we defeat them in their home ground."

"Its not easy doing that against a class outfit like Ba," Prasad said

Prasad said the whole drama surrounding the sacking of its head coach Dennis Singh and the resignation of manager Karuna Pillay this week didn't dampen the Blues spirit as they took to the Men In Black this afternoon.

He said the team had been training under the guidance of fitness trainer Lemeki Ciri this week who has also been playing the part of coach in the absence of Singh.

Prasad said the team dedicated the win to their captain Nawatu who welcomed the birth of his first child at the Lautoka hospital.

"We would like to dedicate this win to a new father in the team; our captain Valerio Nawatu who welcomed the birth of his baby boy and first child."

"We also dedicate the win to all fathers as we commemorate father's day in Fiji,"

Meanwhile in other games Nadi beat Rewa 2-1, Suva was held to a 1-1 draw by Tavua and Labasa trounced Nadroga 5-1 to atine for their loss to Lautoka on Friday night.

How can you possibly say that this is the Blues era when they have yet to win a tournament this year? Don't get too carried away with this win and don't be jealous of Ba.

Lautoka on fire! Coach Singh go back to your grog party. Blues are better off without you. And Anil Sharma don't know why you are always crying over Lautoka's progress towards the O League. You got players from Vanuatu and Solomons. What makes you think they will play for you if Navua qualifies? At least all Lautoka players are from Fiji.

Now we know what Ba fans mean when they say "Ba toh Ba hai". No one can take the IDC away from Lautoka now.

You got to be kidding me Ybjealous, this year so far Lautoka have missed CvC title, Fiji Fact and worst of all home ground final in the BOG. The league looks certain for your Blues era after 24 years and you think they are a good team ... maybe for a year or two only. But beating Ba is always cherished by fans of other districts so enjoy it come the IDC watch Ba rock and rule the park. Good going Lautoka ... all the best for IDC. Go Ba go for a win in IDC

What happened to the Bluezz era in the BOG? Home ground, home support but Ba put one in, never forget that.

More like a Bluezz error hahaha. Well done to Ltka ... about time you believed in your local players and not over paid overseas stars. Can any one work out how many league titles Ba have won ... congrats to Lautoka for winning this season!

Very well done Blues. If we can beat Ba on their home ground without overseas players, why not anywhere else. Tell Bob Nair to keep his unfit overseas players at bay. The Blues have enough good players to beat any team in the IDC.

ybjealous, your nik says it all to the Ba fans. Where are they now? Also, a message to Praveen Bala, you were barking a lot after the BOG win that in this country money is not everything and local talent is it. What now? Egg on your face and all the Ba fans' faces. The Bluez have done it without a coach and with local boys. We have proven a point here. I don't see any Ba fans jumping up and down now! I bet you guys one thing, they (Ba fans) will start coming up with excuses that they only play for the big things. Well, I already have started hearing these excuses. Be true sports people. Bluez forever ... win or lose.

The Ba fans only jump when they win. They will go into hiding now and try and throw punches from there. Shame on Ba soccer for the post match shenanigans on Sunday. Be good losers guys. Bluez all the way ... win or lose.
