Fiji Volleyballers lose to China
July 04, 2009

Fiji women’s volleyball team lost in the third round of the World Cup qualifiers with three straight sets in favour of China in Chengdu last night.

The side went down fighting in the first set 25-10 before completely losing the rhythm in the second 25-12. The forth ranked Chinese side dominated the third set 25-13 sealing a strong win against the Ana Seniloli skippered team.

Team Coach Varanisese Maraiwai was thankful about the team’s performance saying that Thailand is going to be a tough nut to crack.

“The girls played exceptionally well against the forth ranked team in the World and I believe there is still room for improvement. We’re expecting a tough game against Thailand tonight and we look forward to improving our performance.”

All matches from the Asian Pool D will be aired live on CCTV with more than one billion viewers from China and across the globe catching a glimpse of the live volleyball in Chengdu.

Fiji will play Thailand at 12 midnight tonight (Fiji Time).
