Fiji honored to host OFC championship: FFA
July 04, 2009

The Fiji Football Association is honoured and ready to host the Oceania Football Confederation FUTSAL Championship in Suva which gets underway on Monday evening at the Vodafone Arena.

Chief executive Bob Kumar said Fiji FA is glad to host the regional meet and will give the OFC officials all the support possible to make the event a huge success.

“This is the second time we are hosting the event in Fiji and are really honoured and proud to be host of such a prestigious and highly competitive championship.”

“The Vodafone Arena is in tip top shape and the floor has been inspected by our officials and I have been told it is in excellent condition and perfect for indoor football.”

“We are expecting top level competition over the next week and Pacific rivalry at its best.”

“I am urging all the soccer fans in the country to come out in full support of the four nations that will be featuring and give them all the backing.”

“Last season we had a huge crowd turnout at the Arena and I am expecting something similar again.”

“The other island nations will not lack support as there are a lot of Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia students in USP, FIT, FSM and other tertiary institutes in Suva who will come out in full support” he added.

The championship kicks off on Monday evening with defending champions Solomon Islands taking on New Caledonia and Fiji coming up against Vanuatu.
