Following its loss to Nasinu last weekend, Tavua Football has lodged a protest against the southerners for fielding unregistered players in round two of the National League Series at Garvey Park.
The Gold miners are protesting against the players who joined Nasinu in the new transfer window, claiming they were not registered for the National League thus becoming ineligible to feature in the competition.
Fiji FA chief executive officer Bob Kumar confirmed receiving Tavua’s protest and said the Board Of Control of the parent body would discuss the case during its next sitting which will be held later this month.
He failed to divulge further information on the protest.
Nasinu after the win had displaced Suva from the fifth spot on the Newworld National League points table while Tavua slipped to ninth spot behind Nadi.
If the decision of the protest goes in Tavua’s favor then the three points gained will help them to better their chance of avoiding demotion in the new season.
The last two finishers in this season’s National League will feature in the Premier division next year and there will be a top eight competition in the National League.
Defending champion Ba currently leads the points table with 29 points while Labasa sits at the bottom of the table with 3 points.
