MH increase sponsorship for netball tour
July 02, 2009

Netball Fiji kicked off its annual Netball Tour last week with major sponsors Morris Hedstrom increasing their sponsorship by another $5000 from the initial $30,000 sponsorship.

NF secretary Patricia Rokoua said they were happy with the boost saying the increase in MH sponsorship had come at a much needed time.

“Its trouble times now with the economy going down and companies everywhere as well as sporting federations finding it hard to keep standing,” she said.

“MH’s increase of funds has come at a time when a lot of people ad major corporate bodies have turned their back on Netball Fiji.”

The MH Series Tour kicked off in Lautoka last weekend with four pools – two from Lautoka and two fro Suva.

“The response we have gotten has been nothing but positive about the MH Series Tour. The sole purpose of this when it was established was to help develop the grass root level and it’s been doing exactly that,” Rokoua said.

NF also has plans to stretch the MH Series Tour to the North.

“I just came back from the North and I can tell you now that netball is alive and kicking in high spirits over there,” Rokoua said.

“Those guys cannot wait to get involved in the competition and that matter is currently in negotiations with our major sponsor.”
