George 7s ready for kick-off
December 05, 2008

All 16 nations have declared their final squads of 12 for the Emirates Airline South Africa Sevens, which kicks off today in George, South Africa.

The event at the Outeniqua Park Stadium is the second in the new IRB Sevens World Series and offers South Africa another chance to win their home event for the first time, just one week after storming to success at the Dubai Sevens.

Dubai runners-up England have been forced to make the most changes for the tournament after suffering three injuries last weekend.
Eighteen-year-old Charlie Simpson-Daniel, brother of test international James, is one of three Sevens debutants named by coach Ben Ryan. South African-born wing Mat Turner and Rhys Crane are the other players called in to replace Uche Odouza, Ollie Phillips and Josua Drauniniu.
Fantastic feet
"Charlie's got fantastic feet, he's only 18 and he's here for experience but if I can get him on the field I will do because he'll delight the crowd, he's mesmeric," said Ryan, who also welcomes Ben Gollings back to fitness to restore the squad to its full contingent.
"Mat Turner played for South Africa under 20s last year. He's a local boy from Cape Town, Paul Treu would have had him in his squad but we've got him across to us and he's a very quick winger with a good future in the English game," he added.

"They make their debuts with Rhys Crane, who's the quickest member of the Bath squad in England and has a few starts under his belt now."
Squad changes - in brief
Of the other 15 sides in the competition seven are unchanged, while Georgia have flown in two new players - Beka Tsiklauri and Alexander Nizharadze in for Merab Kvirikashvili and Beka Tsiklauri - and Australia, New Zealand, USA, Zimbabwe, Wales and hosts South Africa all make just one change to personnel.

For Argentina experienced forward Nicolas Bruzzone comes in for Tomas Passerotti.

For Australia Aiden Toua replaces Dane Haylett-Petty.

Gordon Pangetti takes the place of Jacques Leitao in the Zimbabwe squad.

New Zealand coach Gordon Tietjens calls up Alex Tulou in place of Kurt Baker.

Paul Treu names Milo Nqoro as a replacement for Marius Schoeman in the Bok squad.

Dallen Stanford comes in for Anwar Salaam in the USA line-up.

Finally, for Wales Dafydd Hewitt replaces Damien Welch.

The tournament starts at 9pm (Fiji time) today.
