Tailevu/Naitasiri for Fiji soccer retro December 04, 2008
Fiji Premier Division soccer champions Tailevu/Naitasiri wants to end their unbeaten run this season on a high note by winning the promotion relegation series against Nadroga.
They face each other tomorrow in the first leg to decide who plays in the Super Premier Division next season.
Tailevu/Naitasiri is unbeaten in the 2008 season and has notched both the Inter-District Championship and Premier Division National League titles.
Association president Sandeep Roy said home support could pay dividend to a soccer retro when they face Nadroga at Lawaqa Park tomorrow night.
“We have prepared well but it would be difficult to beat Nadroga because of their super premier status,” he said.
“There are some niggling injuries to striker Taufiq Ahmed and defender Ashwin Lal while Ronald Rama has been ruled out of the season.”
“Playing in front of a big crowd could affect us, therefore we are calling upon all Tailevu/Naitasiri supporters to come out in numbers and support the team.”
“Nadroga will have the psychological advantage as hosts and superiority but we will give them a run for their money” added Roy.
Experienced players like Zaid Suleman, Sudeshwar Ram, Semi Murad, Rajneel Chand and David Shankar will carry the hopes of the southerners in the series.
The first leg kicks off tomorrow at Lawaqa Park at 7pm and the return leg will be played next Sunday at the Vodafone Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
