Roy jets off to NZ to join Waitakere November 21, 2008
Sensational Fiji striker Roy Krishna jets out of the country early tomorrow to join New Zealand football champions Waitakere United for their second Oceania League clash against Port Villa Sharks of Vanuatu.
The 21 year old Siberia native who had problems with his visa earlier was happy to find out the news of his visa approval this morning.
“I am delighted with the news and looking forward to joining and representing Waitakere United in the O-League, he said.
“I have been informed that I will be starting the match and am really looking forward to my big break with the team which has some of the best players from New Zealand and other countries.
“I have already trained with them and it’s a privilege playing for the club and my personal aim is to prove my worth and make the final team to the club world cup in Japan in December.
The Labasa striker whose double for the Fiji team sunk the Kiwis on Wednesday evening in Lautoka added his goals were a result of team effort and wanted to thank his team mates and officials for allowing him to feature for the entire ninety minutes of the game.
His mentor and Fiji soccer coach, Juan Carlos Buzzetti has wished Krishna the very best for his stint with the Chris Milicich coached side.
“Roy is a brilliant player who doesn’t give up and has a class of his own, said Buzzetti.
“He has what it takes to be an international star and with the right guidance and exposure he can carry Fiji’s flag further on the world stage.
“He should combine well with Totori and other forwards and can make the final team to the World Club Championship as he is very dedicated and always keen to learn more” added the Uruguayan.
Meanwhile, Lorima Dau’s Hekari Souths from Papua New Guinea open their O-League campaign against Koloale FC at Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara in a Group B match tomorrow.
The Waitakere United –Port Villa Sharks match kicks off at 5pm at Trust Stadium in Auckland.

Good luck Roy. Vinaka Labasans for yet another chapter for the FFA without any investment in Labasa. FFA reaps a huge chunk of gate talings through every Labasa soccer match but their investment in Labasa is equivallent to zero.
