Top clubs clash on Day 1 0f NCC
November 21, 2008

The first day of the 2008 Modern Glass and Mirror National Club Championship is set to be an action packed football event as all the top guns in the three divisions clash in the opening matches.

The southern zone playoff sees last season’s runners up United 1 of Rewa taking on star studded Southern Forest Combine from Navua in the morning and later playing Suva’s Samabula in the afternoon.

United boasts Rewa reps like Samuela Vula, Lisala Veitukula, Jesoni Takala, Kamal Hassan, Epeli Deyama, Kalisito Posiano and Uliasi Tamanisau while Southern Forest is entirely made up of Navua reps.

Samabula has the services of Suva reps Akariva Dau, Joseph Mishra, Alifereti Baleloa, Maciu Tuilau and Fiji U20 defender Esava Naqeleca.

In the western division, top Ba qualifier faces 2006 champs GM United in its opening match.

The match is expected to be an interesting affair as the districts reps in the two sides will clash against each other in a repeat of the recent IDC final.

GM United with Fiji reps Peni Finau, Osea Vakatalesau, Ilaitia Nukurawa and Jone Vono Junior will be a tough nut to crack.

Fellow Lautoka and Ba clubs, Blues and Wailailai Youth will battle it out in their opener as well.

Nadi’s top qualifier Eagles will face Nadroga’s Liverpool in another interesting clash.

The one day northern playoffs will also bring out the best of football from the two Labasa and the lone Savusavu club Copra Town.
