Blues seal duo for CVC
October 24, 2008

The victorious Lautoka soccer side has strengthened its champion versus champion campaign by signing former Ba and Fiji reps Osea Vakatalesau and Peni Finau for the early part of next season.

The Wailotua siblings who played a vital role in Lautoka’s victory in the Inter District Championship in Ba turned down an offer to join top Kiwi club Auckland City in the O League competition after striking a lucrative deal with the Sugar City.

Lautoka soccer boss Shalendra Prasad was delighted with the signing and said the two players would play a key role for them against Ba in the series next year.

“Lautoka has never won the CVC and we have already set our sights on the title and are eagerly waiting for the new season to commence, said Prasad.

“Peni and Osea have decided to remain for the series and are expected to extend their contract with us for the entire season as currently we have only contracted them till the CVC.

“They were part of our winning team in 2005 and proved to be our lucky charm in this year’s IDC also despite joining the team in the last minute.

“We really look after the welfare of the players that have the district at heart and the two along with their elder brother Leone Vurikania are worthy assets for us as they always give in their best when it comes to performance.

Prasad also confirmed that they will fly Ali Cem Akbal, Nikola Zonjic and Guran Subara for the CVC.

Meanwhile the Dennis Singh coached side will be treated to a private function next Saturday where the players will be given huge amount of cash incentives and gift packs by sponsors and well wishers of the team.
